Valluvar Kottam
This is a most prominent monument located in Chennai, India. This monument is dedicated to the veteran poet and philosopher ‘Thiruvaluvvar’ who wrote “Thirukkural”. If your trip is to travel in and around Chennai, then Valluvar Kottam is sure to be added in your ‘must visit places’.
The history is, this place was constructed in the year 1976. Everyone knows why Thiruvalluvar is honored, he wrote Thirukkural about 20 centuries before and it has got many principles and values which when read and used will lead us to the Stairway to Success.
Valluvar Kottam is located at an intersection point of the Kodambakkam High road and the Village road and it was constructed by Koththanaars. Valluvar Kottam now stands at the point which was the deepest point of a lake at that time.

The same architect V. Ganapathi Sthapati constructed the memorial in a South Indian tradition architecture. Actually the infrastructure goes like this, it is like a temple chariot and a life size statue of Thiruvalluvar of 39 meter high has been installed in the chariot.
There is an auditorium in Valluvar Kottam which can accommodate up to 4000 people.
