Pamban Bridge – Connects To The Mainland!
The Pamban Bridge is a 3 kilometer bridge which connects the island Rameshwaram and Dhanushkodi to the mainland. This is the longest bridge in India that emphasize the marvel of the Indian engineers. The Bridge refers both the cantilever railway bridge and the road bridge. Either you travel by train or some other vehicle, you can witness water everywhere and the first timers would surely be full of goosebumps. Since 1911, the meter gauge trains are allowed to run over this bridge.
Reports say that around ten ships including cargo carries, coast guard ships, fishing vessels and oil tankers. Thousands of Hindu pilgrims on pilgrimage to the holy Hindu shrine of Rameswaram cross the bridge every day.
