Mamara Guhai, means mango tree (mamara) in tamil cave (guhai), is a religious cave temple in the hilly terrain of Thiruvannamalai. This ancient temple is situated in the majestic foothills of Thiruvannamalai surrounding among the breathtaking natural views and is the cave where the mystic saint Sri Ramana Maharishi taken out penances and meditation for six years.
The temple enshrines Vishwanathar, meaning ‘Lord of the World’ and one of the several forms of ‘Shiva’.
There are two devi forms of Goddesses inside the temple, ‘Raja Rajeswari‘ and ‘Annapoorna Devi‘; there is also Lord Shiva idol inside the temple. The cave also houses Lingams of Siddha Gurus that are worshipped by the Siddhars over here.
