Kappad Beach
Location:
The beach is situated at one of the most popular destinations Kozhikode(previously called as ‘Calicut’), Kerala.
About:
As most of you know, the beach was explored by Vasco Da Gama, and it is evident from a small stone monument with the inscription “Vasco da Gama landed here, Kappakadavu, in the year 1498”. Vasco da Gama, the Portuguese explorer, along with 170 men happened to land here in 1498, paving the way for spice trade with the world and socio-political interaction with Europe. The Beach is quite calm and pollution free and the sunset view is fascinating.
The main attractions are the sun set, display in Vasco da Gama Memorial, big rocks, and the rocks are projecting into the sea.
The sea is not very rough, rather tranquil, the local people are very friendly and above all the beach is not very crowded too. The corniche, small park and rest room which was completed last year is a blessinng to the visitors. The beach is not ideal to spent time during June & July being the Monsoon season but after the monsoon season the beach will be clean and one can just spend time, watch sunset, have fun and even more fun.
Summing up, it will be a lovely evening at a clean beach with a vibrant personality!!!
