Edward Eliot’s Beach, popularly known as Besant Nagar Beach, is located in Besant Nagar. The beach is named after the then Governor of Madras ‘Edward Eliot’.
This beach is a very nice place to hangout in the evenings. A nice place with all kinds of street food available throughout the beach and most importantly, the beach is very well maintained and kept clean. There are lot of eating joints on the beach road. Evenings are lively and a very good place to hangout.The beach is also not much crowded and is also a favorite beach for the college students and local families living in and around Chennai.

The memorial is named after the Dutch sailor who lost his life in the process of saving a drowning swimmer.
There is this Ashtalakshmi Temple, which is 20 years old and is significant for its modern style architecture. It is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and appears different from the rest of the Temples in South India.
